Welcome! My name is Marisela Romero, owner of Monarch In-Home Preschool (Romero Family Childcare). Thank you for choosing us. We strive to provide an environment that is both stimulating and nurturing, promoting learning through discovery, exploration, and self-expression. Our home daycare is well-equipped for infants through children 12 years of age.

  • Education: B.A. in Sociology (Cal State Bakersfield); M.A. in Special Education.
  • Experience: Over 10 years of Early Childhood experience.
  • Certifications: First Aid and CPR certified.

Hours: Monday – Friday, 7:30 A.M. to 5:00 P.M.

Curriculum and Educational Philosophy

At Monarch In-Home Preschool, we believe that children are natural learners who thrive in an environment that respects their curiosity and individuality. Our curriculum is built on the Whole Child Approach, which focuses on nurturing every aspect of a child’s development: social-emotional, physical, cognitive, and language skills.

We use environmental cues and clear routines to help children feel secure.

  • Visual Schedules: We use visual aids to help children understand transitions and what comes next.
  • Clear Expectations: Rules are stated positively (e.g., "We use walking feet" instead of "Don't run") so children know exactly what is expected of them.
  1. Social-Emotional Teaching Strategies We proactively teach children how to navigate their emotions and social world:
  • Emotional Literacy: We help children identify and label their feelings (e.g., "It looks like you are feeling frustrated because the tower fell").
  • Problem-Solving: We guide children through the "Solution Kit" steps—helping them think of ways to solve conflicts, such as asking nicely, trading, or waiting for a turn.
  • Friendship Skills: We model and encourage prosocial behaviors like sharing, helping, and empathy.
